Excellent alternative to tampons/sanitary towels

Like most women, I have always dreaded that time of month i.e. my period. Unlike a lot of women, it wasn't the pain that caused me the most problems, although it was disabling at times. PMS or PMT was never an issue for me, either. Even my very first period was a difficult time as I didn't know what was going on and my mother seemed reluctant to explain it to me.

You might say, "well, what else could be the problem?"

The problem was the constant irritation and discomfort I felt whilst using tampons and sanitary towels. It was frustrating as I needed to switch between them both; neither one was comfortable or adequate, neither one made me happy. I could never make up my mind as to which was the lesser of the two evils. As a very sensitive woman, in more ways than one, using tampons caused me great discomfort on insertion, use and removal. It was a nightmare. I would then switch to sanitary towels thinking they would be easier and less painful for me to use. But, even then, I would feel dirty as most didn't absorb at all well and I worried about the risk of leakages.

So, when I spotted Mooncup for sale in my local chemist, I was ecstatic. Could this mean an end to all my problems? Would this product be the one thing that would delay my decision to have a total hysterectomy? Yes, it had come to that. A decision not to be made lightly for any woman and a decision my GP was reluctant to give me the permission I needed to carry it through. But, I needed a solution and Mooncup appeared to be it.

I loved how it was packaged, its design and how it was such an affordable price; a price that would be recouped many times over. My experience with the Mooncup, right from the start, has been one of ease and joy. Even though my first use of the product was whilst I was on a day out with my fiancé and miles from a good toilet, I still didn't have any major problems with using or insertion. Granted, I inserted the Mooncup far too high (it sits lower than a tampon) but even so, it was easy to use, remove and clean. At a later date, I purchased some sterilizing tablets in order to keep the Mooncup completely germ free.

I have now been using the Mooncup for several months and the initial cost of the product has been repaid over and over again and not in the monetary sense. The Mooncup is a simple device which comes with its own instructional manual and easy-to-understand diagrams. I've never had to buy a sanitary towel or tampon since I've purchased the Mooncup. I have it for life now and will never consider returning to those awful plugs of material with applicators ever again.
