This is the third book in the best selling Imperfectly Natural series and takes Janey’s ideas, theories and tips of ‘achievable’ healthy and green living directly into our homes, living spaces, and mainstream lives, again like in her previous two books, without donning the ‘eco-warrior’ hat.
Janey believes Imperfectly Natural touched a nerve with so many people because like her, many of us want to make a difference to our health and to ecological issues, but just don’t want to make a career of it. It’s all of us in the ‘mainstream’ making small changes that will make the big difference to our own and our kid’s lives.
Imperfectly Natural Home is a book for everyone, whether you’re in a mansion or a bed-sit, on your own or with lots of people, and all ages. It’s the antidote to ‘green over-kill’ for 2008, without losing the basic message of a Natural, heathier, but Imperfect world.
Here's what Janey says:
Trust me I'm no eco warrior, I'm a busy mum of four kids under 10 but I want to be healthy and I want a healthy environment. I've written this book for you whether you live in a bedsit or a castle, our homes are unique and we owe it to ourselves to create a space that promtoes health and relaxation. I hope you'll find money saving ideas here as well as some luxurious treats but the emphasis is on health and wellbeing and ticking the green box in the process.
In many ways I'm very old fashioned, I do recommend getting out the lemons, bi-carb and elbow grease for cleaning, I don't believe anyone should buy regular air fresheners or laundry detergents or regualr deodorants for that matter because there are 100 per cent natural cheaper alternatives available now for absolutely everything from mascara to floor polish.
I do many talks around the UK and on countless occasions people have said to me I've only just starting to be concerned with what I should eat, what chemicals I spray around my home and on my body since a relative got cancer or alzheimers. No one bottle of anything will cause disease but I'm convinced the acclumalative effect of the hundreds of potentially toxic chemicals we now use on a daily basis probably will. Heres a really positive approach to reducing that risk. I do beleive we can have our natural eco / cake and eat it. In addition to cleaning, laundry, foods, composting, recycling, DIY, personal care, gardening, natural pet care, eco transport, eco Christmas and energy saving, I also take a look at the practical aspects of Feng shui and clutter clearing and I have, I confess a rather controversial take on electro pollution, of course I accept we can't live without mobile phones and wi-fi technology but we can minimise the effects on our health.
