Ethical Fashion Show
Thursday 11 March, 7pm
The William Morris Gallery
Tel: 020 8496 4390
* In the spirit of William Morris’ concern for the environment and interest in natural dyes we have invited some of London’s leading ethical designers to present their latest collections at the Gallery.
* Attend a catwalk show with a conscience- proving that eco-design can be edgy, fashionable and fun!
* Participating designers include: Emmeline 4 Re, Feng Ho, Nancy Dee, Elena Garcia, Sew Last Season, Miksani, Beautiful Soul, By Stamo and Tammam.
* Tickets £8 (includes a free drink) and can be reserved by contacting the Gallery.
* The Fashion Show will raise funds in support of the William Morris Gallery Development Project.
* The William Morris Gallery is the only public Gallery devoted to William Morris - designer, craftsman, writer, socialist and conservationist - and displays an internationally important collection illustrating his life, achievements and influence.
* The Gallery increased its public opening hours in the start of the 2009. We are now open to the public Wednesdays to Sundays with group visits welcomed on Tuesdays.
The William Morris Gallery Development Project
* The Development Project aims to transform the William Morris Gallery into a first class visitor facility and a centre of excellence for the study of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement.
* Plans include:
- to conserve and enhance the Grade II* listed building
- to refurbish the existing galleries
- to build a new extension
- to make the whole building accessible
- to deliver an engaging programme of heritage events and activities to wider and more diverse audience
- to work more closely with contemporary designers, artists and craftsmen to show the continuing relevance of Morris’ artistic legacy
* The Heritage Lottery Fund grant process takes place over two rounds. The William Morris Gallery has successfully applied for round one funding and will be applying for round two in Spring 2010 to deliver the Project. We still have a considerable amount of money to raise and you can help by supporting this event!
* For further information about the Project or to make a donation, please contact Jemma Taylor - Museum, Gallery and Archives Manager.
