The Who’s Who of Green Celebrities, artists, actors, environmentalists, industry executives and CEOs  will be gathering for the 4th Annual Global Green Awards Gala Ceremony on 18th November.

The 4th Annual Green Awards to recognise creativity in sustainability will showcase the best examples of brands, organisations and individuals tackling climate change through effective communication. The ceremony will be held at the historic LSO St Luke’s, Old Street in the heart of London.

This year’s event sees a host of celebrities coming to show their support including Jo Wood from Strictly Come Dancing who is a green celebrity in her own right with a range of organic beauty products to her name. Jo will present an award to the winner of the new Best Green Charity/Social Enterprise Campaign category which includes Keep Britain Tidy and the Climate Group on the shortlist.

Lynne Franks who took part in ‘I’m A celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ will be presenting the Best Green PR category. Lynne is one of the best-known PR consultants in the world, she’s also a commentator on women’s issues and an entrepreneur and author. In fact, she is reputedly the inspiration for Edina in Absolutely Fabulous. Lynne's green credentials include developing  the SEED Network as a grass roots initiative to recognize sustainable entrepreneurs and sustainable business practices globally particularly focused on empowering women in developing countries.

Colin Firth commented "I would like to express my support for the Green Awards; it is very important, especially at this time that companies who put their efforts and financial resources into green initiatives are recognized with such a prestigious award."

The awards will be hosted by BBC Radio 2 Co-Presenter of the Steve Wright Show Janey Lee Grace, author of ‘Imperfectly Natural Woman’ who is herself another budding environmentalist promoting green health issues within the media.

Many of today’s celebrities are quietly pushing the green agenda and environmental initiatives in their own sectors under the radar of more well know campaigners.

However the stalwarts and early pioneers of the ‘Green movement’ such as Sir Jonathon Porritt CBE, former Chairman of the UK Sustainable Development Commission and Tony Juniper, former director of Friends of the Earth, will also be participating with Porritt headlining as guest speaker.

Iain Patton, Managing Partner of GREEN Consultancy, producers and founders of the event, said, “With less than a month to go before the crucial climate change talks in Copenhagen we’re pleased to be hosting one of the largest gatherings of influential environmental experts and green celebrities to reward best practice and to make a commitment to a more sustainable future by engaging the media around the issues”.

The Rt. Hon MP Ben Bradshaw who will recognise the overall Grand Prix Winner by presenting the award and making a short speech commented “No one these days can deny the case for sustainability and conservation in just about everything we do.  The importance of it – and the imperative behind it – become more pressing as each day goes by.  So I am pleased and proud to be backing this event, and I can’t wait to find out more about the finalists and, of course, to see who’s won.”

The winners of this year’s Green Awards will be announced on Wednesday 18th November at the LSO St Luke’s in Central London. See www.greenawards.co.uk for details.
